Menopause Treatments in New Orleans, LA

MENOPAUSE
Menopause is a normal change in a woman’s life and marks the end of the fertile years. It occurs when the ovary ceases to produce the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Menopause is diagnosed after a woman has had no menses for 12 months consecutively. This often happens between late 40s to early 50s. Though menopause happens naturally with age, it can also stem from other factors; such as, surgery, treatment of a disease, or an illness. In these cases it can be called induced menopause, surgical menopause, or primary ovarian insufficiency, depending on the cause.

THE PROCESS
The process happens slowly over three stages:
Perimenopause
Your cycles will become irregular, but they haven't stopped. Most women hit this stage around age 47
Menopause
This is when you'll have your final menstrual period.
Postmenopause
This begins when you hit the year mark from your final period.
Changes and symptoms can start several years earlier. They include:

-
A change in periods - shorter or longer, lighter or heavier, with more or less time in between
-
Hot flashes and/or night sweats
-
Trouble sleeping
-
Vaginal dryness
-
Mood swings
-
Trouble focusing
-
Less hair on head, more on face

OUR TREATMENTS
We offer a range of specialized treatments tailored to your individual needs and symptoms. If you are experiencing menopause symptoms, we will evaluate which of the following options are right for you.
Hormone Therapy (HT/HRT)
Systemic Hormone Therapy
Replaces estrogen and often progesterone (if you have a uterus) for whole-body relief of hot flashes, night sweats, and mood changes. These are available in various forms including pills, patches, gels, sprays, or rings.
Low-Dose Vaginal Products
Specifically targeted creams, tablets, or rings used to treat vaginal dryness and discomfort with minimal absorption into the rest of the body.
Specialized Symptom Management
Hyperhidrosis Botox
Designed to treat severe localized hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). This treatment works by blocking nerve signals to the sweat glands, offering significant and long-lasting relief from one of the most disruptive symptoms of menopause.
Systemic Anticholinergics
While FDA-approved for overactive bladder, these medications can also be effective in helping to manage and reduce the frequency of hot flashes.
Hyposexual Disorder Treatments
Specialized care and medical interventions for low, decreased, or absent libido, helping you regain your quality of life and intimacy.
